February 6, 2021 – Paul Siker, candidate for Virginia’s House of Delegate’s 33rd District, announced that he has signed the Activate Virginia pledge and will not accept donations from Dominion Energy and Appalachian Power. “As someone who has long recognized the importance of being a good steward of the environment, my decision to forego political donations from large utilities like Dominion and Appalachian Power was an easy one,” Siker said.
Appalachian Power and Dominion have regularly contributed to politicians from both political parties in Virginia – and also to the parties themselves. “I don’t think Virginians benefit when their legislators accept donations from public utilities. Signing the Activate Virginia Pledge is a transparent way for me to demonstrate to constituents that their interests come before those of corporate utilities.”
